Yellow Water Cruises - On the most famous billabong in Kakadu, Yellow Water. This cruise departs six times daily including sunrise and sunset. An experience not to be missed.
Warradjan Cultural Centre - The most comprehensive collection and display of aboriginal life in Kakadu. Entry is free and allow 45 mins to view.
Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn is a first class hotel, the only in Kakadu, and is shaped as a crocodile. All rooms have been refurbished and its Escarpment restaurant has excellent dining.
Windows on the Wetlands - on top of a hill overlooking the floodplains of the Adelaide river, it has interactive displays on the flora and fauna of the region. A great way to break on the way to Kakadu.
An easy walk around a billabong framed by the backdrop of Nourlangie rock. Birdlife and animals congregate at this billabong which can dry up towards the end of the dry season.
Bowali Visitor Centre - Run by Parks Australia the centre has a cafe, facilities, tour and information desk and a wonderful display on the geological features, flaura and fauna of Kakadu. Allow 1 hour.
Cahills Crossing Picnic Area - Features riverside picnic tables and a viewing area over the tidal East Alligator River.
Gagudju Adventure Tours - An all day 4WD tour operated by Gagudju Dreaming that explores the less accessible parts of Kakadu, including Jim Jim and Twin falls (seasonal access permiting)

Gunlom Falls - 4WD required to access the campground and Gunlom. Featuring a large pool at the bottom and swimming holes at the top of the falls. Some of the best swimming views anywhere in the world.

Nanguluwur - A 3.4 km return walk through woodlands leads to a quiet Aboriginal rock art site. Allow 2 hours.

 

Jabiru - the township of Jabiru has a fuel station, banking, medical services, sports club and accommodation.
Jumping Crocodile Cruise - There's more than one operator available to get up and close with crocodiles as they lift themselves from the water as the boat crew feed them. Controversial to some.
Jim Jim and Twin Falls - the most iconic falls in Kakadu accessible by a rough 4WD track that may be excluded by car rental companies. Seasonal access and moderate level of fitness required.
Gubara monsoon forest pools - A 6 km return walk past sandstone cliffs to shady monsoon forest pools. A pleasant place to spend the heat of the day. Allow 4 hours.

 

Manngarre Monsoon Forest Walks - 3 circular walks from 0.6 km to 1.5 km through monsoon rainforest beside the East Alligator River.

Mamukala Wetlands - beautiful all year but at its most dramatic in the late dry season (September – October) when thousands of magpie geese congregate to feed.

Nourlangie Art Site - Features an ancient Aboriginal shelter and several outstanding art sites. A moderately steep climb to Gun-warddehwardde Lookout provides impressive views of Kakadu’s escarpment and Nourlangie.
 Nanguluwur Art Site Walk - A 3.4 km return walk through woodlands leads to a quiet Aboriginal rock art site.
Sandstone cliffs - Starts off the Bardedjilidji walk and features a 6.5 km marked circular walk which takes you past Catfish Creek, floodplains, billabongs, sandstone outliers and the East Alligator River.
Ubirr - A 1 km circular track takes you past several fascinating Aboriginal rock art sites. A moderately steep, 250 m climb takes you to the top of a rocky lookout that offers superb views over the Nadab floodplain, particularly beautiful at sunset.
Ubirr Cruise - Gulyumbi cruises operate a wet season cruise that is highly seasonal but during the right conditions allow access to Ubirr during the wet season when the road is flooded.

Gagudju Lodge Cooinda - Operated by Gagudju Dreaming is next to Yellow Water Billabong and has a general store, pool, lodge, backpacker and camping areas, fuel, ice and bistro and bar. A tour desk is at reception.

Wet Season (November to March)

2 Day Program

Day 1

Early departure from Darwin - travel along the Stuart and Arnhem highway towards Kakadu along the way visit Windows on the Wetlands, a great introduction to the wetlands area. Further along the highway keep your eyes open for giant termite mounds, next stop Mamukala Wetlands beautiful all year round. Head to Bowali Visitors Centre designed and inspired by Aboriginal rock shelter with a wealth of information, following this head to Nourlangie Art Site and an afternoon  Yellow Water Cruise.

Day 2

Catch a Yellow Water Sunrise Cruise followed by a cultural and informative experience at Warradjan Culture Centre, head North past Jabiru to one of Kakadu's famous art sites Ubirr, stop for a picnic at Cahills Crossing picnic area then head to Manngarre Monsoon Forest Walk, catch a jumping croc tour on the way home.

3 Day Program

Day 1
Early departure from Darwin - travel along the Stuart and Arnhem highway towards Kakadu along the way visit Windows on the Wetlands, a great introduction to the wetlands area. Further along the highway keep your eyes open for giant termite mounds, next stop head to Bowali Visitors Centre designed and inspired by Aboriginal rock shelter with a wealth of information, following this head to Nourlangie Art Site and an afternoon

Yellow Water Cruise.

Day 2
Guided Cultural Tour into Gubara a moderate walk past sandstone cliffs to monsoon forest pools, allow 4 hours to complete, followed by a cultural and informative experience at Warradjan Culture Centre and a Scenic Flight from Jabiru with an optional walk to Nanguluwur Art Site Walk.

Day 3
Magella Wetlands and Ubirr Cruise, tour Kakadu by air with a Scenic Flight from Jabiru, catch a Jumping Crocodile Cruise on your return to Darwin.

4 Day Program

Day 1

Dry Season (April to October)

2 Day Program

Day 1
Depart Darwin – Windows on the Wetlands, Giant Termite Mounds, Mamukala Wetlands, Bowali Visitors Centre, Ubirr Art Site walk – stay for sunset.

Day 2 

Sunrise Yellow Water Cruise, Breakfast at Cooinda,  Scenic Flight from Cooinda, Warradjan Cultural Centre – Nourlangie Art Site, Anbangbang Billabong Walk– Jumping Crocodile Tour – Return to Darwin

3 Day Program

Day 1
Early departure from Darwin by car. On transit to Kakadu visit Windows on the Wetlands and The Giant Termite Mounds. Within Kakadu visit Mamukala Wetlands and then Bowali Visitors Centre near the town of Jabiru. Then head north to Ubirr art site walk and stay for sunset. Overnight accommodation in Jabiru at Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn.

Day 2

Travel early to Gagudju Lodge Cooinda for an all day 4WD tour with Gagudju Adventure Toursto Jim Jim and Twin Falls in the dry season. Overnight at Gagudju Lodge Cooinda.

Day 3

Sunrise Yellow Water Cruiseand breakfast at Cooinda, optional Scenic Flight from Cooinda then visit Warradjan Cultural Centre. Depart Gagudju Lodge Cooindaand travel north to Nourlangie to visit rock art site and see Anbangbang Billabong. On return to Darwin visit a Jumping Crocodile Tour – Return to Darwin

4 Day Program

Day 1
Early departure from Darwin by car. On the way to Kakadu visit Windows on the Wetlands and the Giant Termite Mounds. Within Kakadu visit Mamukala Wetlands, Bowali Visitors Centre near Jabiru and then drive north for the Ubirr art site walk and stay for sunset. Overnight at Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn.

Day 2
Take an all day 4WD tour with Gagudju Adventure Tours to visit Jim Jim and Twin Falls in the dry season and a flexible program in the wet season. Overnight at Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn.

Day 3

Drive south to Gunlom Falls and if you hold a reasonable level of fitness, climb to the top for magical plunge pools and views from the escarpment. Or you may want to try Maguk for an easier travel and access walk and swim. Travel to Gagudju Lodge Cooindafor a Sunset Yellow Water Cruise and overnight accommodation.

Day 4

Sunrise Yellow Water Cruise, Breakfast at Cooinda,  Optional Scenic Flight with Kakadu air from Cooinda, Warradjan Cultural Centre,depart Gagudju Lodge Cooinda and drive north to visit Nourlangie art sites and Anbangbang Billabong. Leave Kakadu and on the way home take a Jumping Crocodile Tour – Return to Darwin
